A big hello to all you OHKoers out there. This is Pikkdogs here with a two pack of tournament reports. I didn’t have much to do this weekend, so I decided to try to make it to two tournaments. If you have read some of my other tournament reports, you would have noticed that I have been on a big slump lately. I had previously had a good Battle Road season, but I never had a decent showing at a City Championship. So I hoped that I could change my luck this weekend with a different deck.

I decided that I would go with Mew Prime/Vanilluxe/Unfezant. It is a cool deck that is different and disruptive. I did do an article on it, but I will explain it briefly. You try to get Vanilluxe and Unfezant in the Lost Zone with Relicanth and Mew Prime. Then, you use Mew to attack with “Double Freeze” for 40-80 damage and paralysis. Then when you are ready for a knockout, you can use Unfezant’s “Fly” attack for 50 damage and no damage or effects on Mew for the next turn. This is the list that I used for…

Hey there OHKO I’m slightly new to the site and this will be my first post !

Check out these videos of the Saint Louis Park City Championship’s Top Cut.

Below the videos is the report of my day. Enjoy :)

Well where to start? I was suppose to judge at this citys but it turns out, thanks to Mark and Steven, that I got to play.

Let’s begin with my deck

I chose to play Magnezone/Eels, Because of it’s built in draw engine and it’s match ups across the board it seemed like the right choice.

One really big mistake, on my part, I FORGOT to put in a super rod. This was a huge mistake.

Round 1: V.S. ED with Raichu/Eels

I saw I was playing ED. So I started by going over in my head what he had played in the past which would be ZPST. I know ED as a very good player so I was going to have to be on top of my game. When the game got going I noticed some odd cards in his deck that really didn’t seem to belong there. Now I know that he was only playing with cards that he received from other people…

A big hello to all you OHKOers out there. This is Pikkdogs here with his extra-dimensionary sidekick, Pedro. Officially, City Championships are not over. They will still be carrying on for another week or two yet, but I’m all done playing mine, so I’ll just assume that everybody else is too. Things have changed a lot over Cities so let’s take a look at what has happened.

Pikkdogs.

Yes Pedro.

Well before we recap Cities as a whole, don’t you think you should recap your own Cities season?

No I don’t.

Oh come on, if you won’t then I guess I will have to.

How Pikkdogs Did

Pikkdogs went to 3 City Championships and went a combined 6 and 11. That means he lost almost twice as often as he won. That also means that he finishes with a very poor losing record. Not only did he not win, he never made a top cut, nor did he have a winning record, nor did he ever have a non-losing record for any single tournament. We can recap this tournament season by stating that Pikkdogs did very very bad.

Thank You Pedro for reminding me.

You are…

Read my last two CC reports to find out why.

It’s at the Source. Details are a little hazy, but I’ll do my best. Playing Jewgar both days.

Source: Round 1: VS Ed(playing ZPST)
Before the round even starts, Ed tells me that he’s gonna drop after the round to trade. So we’re already off to a great start. I destroy him, because he starts bad and I start broke. So I win. And…he drops. Tie breakers are already fantastic. I tell myself that I’ll have to literally go X-0 to top unless I get some better tie breakers.
1-0

(Opponent finishes: 0-1 drop at the end of the day)

Source: Round 2: VS I honestly don’t remember your name, but you were(playing Reshiphlosion)
I get off broke, he doesn’t. HURL HURL HURL HURL HURL HURL GG.
2-0

(Opponent finishes: 3-2 at the end of the day)

Mark is 1-1 at this time, meaning I get paired down. So if I lose, my tie breakers are about to take a huge hit…

That damn Beartic. So we both start off, I get…

Today’s City Championship was in Findlay, Oh. It was about an hour and a half drive for me, about 2 hours south of Detroit. I was joined by my buddy Frank and two other Team Warp Point members. The guys arrived to my apartment about a half hour late, but luckily, the judges were all later than us. So we got there in plenty of time, but the tournament was also delayed.

This Cities was mostly made up of Ohio players. Fort Wayne, In also had a Cities on the same day, that kept all the Indiana players away. The 2 hour drive also kept a lot of Michiganders away, since my car, my buddy Matt K, and Team Bertolli were the only ones there. But, Ohio sure came out swinging. Regionals winner Carl S. was there, along with The Top Cut member Drew…

A big hello to all you OHKOers out there. This is Pikkdogs and his extra-dimensionary sidekick Pedro here with a short article about this years Cities tournaments. It seems like I just got back from Regionals, but yet Cities will be starting this week! Besides having no time to prepare for Cities, there are new cards in the format. So let’s slow things down a little bit and look at what’s going on in the format.

Before we get going, I should announce that onehitko.com has a new sponsor, www.propokemon.com.

Someone actually is giving you money to promote their site?

It appears that way.

So you’re like a whore now, you pimp yourself out for money?

I thought we already established that.

Oh yeah, forgot about that. I smell a part of the article where you are about to sell your soul to the man and give them a cheesy commercial, so go ahead.

Alright. www.propokemon.com Is a great place to get deck lists and different tricks and tips for the format. They always have some cool free articles, but, they are now changing the game by offering you premium articles from the best…

Jan 8th Misty Mountain Games in Burnsville

I was able to attend a tournament in Minnesota this weekend. I normally play in Michigan, but I spend my time away from school in Minnesota so I was able to attend the tournament on Saturday in Burnsville, MN. I was really excited to go to this tournament, because it was slated to be the reunion of Team Omar. This is because both me and Omar will be in town, so the team will be able to get together for one more tournament. I have fond memories of this past summer, when Omar won 3 cities so I was excited to see if we can take another victory medal.

I always like to play in Minnesota because the Metgame is much more relaxed. …

First, a little background to set the stage; I played a Shuppet deck all season last year. When the Rotation came I set aside Shuppet because it lost too much to stay viable (not to mention the increase in trainer locking decks.) Having done so left me without a deck of choice, or even a deck I was familiar with. Ed had been sharing the TOSSED deck list with me and since I was at least familiar with half of the deck I went with it for Battle Roads. I modified it to have a Blaziken FB Lv.X tech line and called it HOT TOSSED. After 3 tournaments and losing about 2/3 of my matches I decided TOSSED just wasn’t for me.

One thing I came to like during the Battle Roads was the concept of an SP toolbox style deck. I also had a distinct desire to avoid any and all of the current tier 1 decks; I felt like they had all been around for so long that they offered little new in regards to tactics and strategy.…

My fellow Seinfeld fans will appreciate the reference to the episode where Jerry continually loses things and then gains things back again. This is how I felt today at the Rochester Hills City Championships. No matter how hard I fight to break away from the crutches of mediocrity, it pulled me back in, but then I was reminded that it wasn’t that bad.

The story of the 2010 Rochester Hills Michigan City Championship begins on Friday afternoon. I got back from my jog and fired up the computer. I got a message from Derek, our tournament organizer, saying that he expects a record draw to the next cities and reccomends that we all show up early. I decided to pass that info on to my buddy Jona, and hope to make it there when registration starts, at 11. I end up making it by 11:10, the parking lot was full, but I was able to register. At about 11:20, they begin turning people away, because the fire code only lets 70 people in the building. This left several players, including last years state champion, away from the tournament. When I saw this I thought I…

Ed asked me to write a tournament report about my weekend at the Source and Dreamers. I usually tweet updates as the tournaments go on (www.twitter.com/wiem0014) so those notes helped a lot in writing this report. Sorry if I don’t remember names or all of the details.

The previous weekend Emmanuel, Lukas, Nick and I traveled to Madison and LaCrosse for the first weekend of Cities. I performed extremely sub-par that weekend, mostly due to bad luck, but also due to a costly misplay on Saturday. I ended up 2-3 Saturday (after starting 0-3) with Luxchomp This was the deck I was most comfortable with, winning States with it last year, and testing it heavily for Regionals and Nats. It was the right deck in a field of Gyarados, but I started against two Machamp decks and couldn’t recover. I finished 3-2 on Sunday while playing a Machamp deck focused on the Prime more than most. Jay Hornung (from IA) ended up winning both days with Luxchomp and going 13-1 on the weekend.

I brought Gyarados with me, but I left my sick daughter, Ava, at home. Hopefully she can join me this weekend.

I don’t know why, but I’ve played Justin in just about every tourney we’ve both participated in. Heck, I even got matched against him at regionals. Well, at least he’s used to playing against me. He started with a fire Arceus on his bench. I think I Regimoved it active, and he ended up belting it. I used the 2X water weakness to my advantage and went up 2-0 in prizes. After that, he couldn’t recover.
1-0

Round 2) Emmanuel D. with Machamp SF/Prime and Kingdra Prime
I’ve played against this deck before. You might think it’s heavily weighted in my favor, but it’s not that bad for him. What is bad is prizing like all his primes and 2 Bebe’s. I am pretty sure he used Seeker to use Azelf’s Time Walk 3 times. In theory, he should be…

So, i decided to play Palkia lock instead of lady gaga because i havent played gaga enough to know what to do in a lot of situations, so i went with a pretty basic lock that consists of Palkia g, luxray g, and then as counters i had promocroak g for luxray g and ambipom for garchomp c. here is how it went.

Round 1 vs Mamoswine G Empoleon G….

This was a joke. i won in i think like 4 turns, and his first 4 turns consisted of energy drops and his only basics were the ones listed above. idk if he know what was goin on or if he was just playing because it was free, but whatever, point being it was over 4 turns, and thats all there is to it. 1-0

Round 2 vs Beedrill

So, i play my buddy alex round 2. Everytime i play against him, it seems like he is using beedrill, and i am using a plox type deck. Turns out that was the same thing for today. He starts a baltoy, attaches a grass energy, and ends his turn. i figured id he gets powers with beedrill im screwed, so i drop…

My cities was INSANE out here. So many good players, including one of my losses came from a guy in the top 10 in worlds atm. I was running GG. Out here, everyone techs against Dialga. Everyone. Not one person likes it. haha. But there is what happened roughly.

Round 1: GG vs. Lady Gaga (luxray G & Garchomp G) with infernape 4 and blaziken FB

I locked up his ability to heal and his ability to bring up anyone he wanted active starting turn 2 and never looked back. He also didnt pull a supporter untill turn 4, and he didnt ever pull cyrus. Pretty much locked him up hard and then 1 hit KO his luxray with my gallade. He couldnt recover. GG :)
1-0

Round 2: GG vs. Salamance

I was really surprised at the amount of salamance decks out here. There are some pretty sick strategies with this deck. First, they run Kingdra, discard energies and do 60 and 20 to a bench. Then, they use delcatty and salamance AR to play multiple energies a turn, and the point is to injur someone on the bench to a point of being 20 hp away(usually claydol) and then they Lv. X their Salamance, and…
