A Very Special Pikkdogs Pikks Three: Vanilluxe, Unown (Cure), and Steelix Prime.

Monday, December 5th, 2011

A big hello to all you OHKOers out there.  This is Pikkdogs and his extra-dimensionary sidekick Pedro here with a Pikk Three article.  If you couldn’t guess it from the title, this Pikk Three has a theme.

Like a Prom?

Well kind of.

Can the theme be “Springtime in Paris?”

How could that be a theme for a Pokemon article? There are no French Pokemon.

I guess so.  If there were French Pokemon I would bet they all would have  no attacks and the “Surrender” Ability.

Probably. As I was trying to say a while ago, this Pikk Three article has a theme.  The  theme today is “Special Conditions.”  All three of our cards have something to do with special conditions.  Vanilliuxe can paralyze the defending Pokemon, Unown can remove Special Conditions, and Steelix Prime is untouchable by them.  Special conditions were never really that big in Pokemon outside of Pre-Releases, so its nice to see them actually seeing competitve play.  So before we offend any other nationality, let’s procede to the article.

Bring in the Tanks: Tanking Pokemon in the TCG.

Friday, March 4th, 2011

Hey Everyone.  This is Pikkdogs here to talk about Tanks in the Pokemon TCG.  In military terms, a tank refers to a heavily armored, slow moving, and hard hitting vehicle.  In reference to the Pokemon TCG, a tank is a Pokemon card that has high HP, is usually slow to setup, and can deal a lot of damage.  This article is all about tanking Pokemon.

Tanking Pokemon are pretty cool.  They can absorb a lot of damage and deal it right back to your opponent.  The problem is the fact that they are fairly slow and hard to evolve.

So what are some of the strategies that you can use with tanks?  Well, each tanking card is different, but for the most part you would want to get the tank out as fast as possible and then heal the tank.  Healing can be done with cards like Pokehealer +, MooMoo Milk, and Blissey Pt.

Currently in the game there are a lot of Pokemon who can be considered tanks.  Here is a profile of some of the more interesting ones.

Tank #1- Dialga G Lv. X

Description– Dialga G Lv. X is possibly the smallest yet most played tank.  …

“Steeling” the Show with Steelix Prime

Monday, November 22nd, 2010

Hi Everyone, this is Pikkdogs here.  I hope your preparations for Cities are going well.  I hope today you might learn something about possibly a deck to play, or a deck that you might play against.  City tournaments start in just a few days, so get ready for your final preparations.

Another housekeeping issue is that we at Team Omar wish you guys a Happy Thanksgiving.  I love Thanksgiving, it has a lot of turkey, stuffing, gravy, and pie; so what could be wrong with that?  So I hope you guys are able to go home and meet with your family to have a great Thanksgiving.

A final housekeeping issue is that next month will mark our first anniversary.  Ed and I are tossing ideas around to celebrate this mark.  We are trying to think of a good contest idea, but are having a little trouble.  If anyone has an idea of how to best celebrate our first year of operation, please leave the idea in the comment box.

Okay, now onto the article.   At the end of the battle road season I wrote an article that reported my tournament results.  I played two decks for the BR season, Trainerlock and Steelix.  I posted my Trainerlock decklist, and wrote that I would post my Steelix decklist soon.  Well, I forgot to do that.  So now that Cities are coming up, now seems to be the perfect time to write the article.  It should help people prepare to face the deck, and it should help people who are still looking for a deck to play.
